Join us on July 13 at 7:00 p.m. as Jeremy Courtney, founder of Preemptive Love, invites us to consider the world's greatest humanitarian crisis of our time as Syria and Iraq are ravaged by ISIS. Drawing on years of his work at the front lines in the Middle East, Courtney will take us past the media's interpretation of events to provide a local account of the true impact of ISIS in Iraq and the resulting refugee crisis in the area. Then he'll teach us how we as people committed to global justice can "love first, ask questions later" by re-conceptualizing what it means to be a peacemaker in this new era of international conflict.
Jeremy Courtney (@JCourt) is founder and executive director of the Preemptive Love Coalition(PLC)—an international development organization that has provided over 1,000 lifesaving heart surgeries to children and training to local doctors and nurses in an effort unmake violence and remake the world in war-torn countries. PLC has helped over 7,000 people since ISIS sprung onto the world stage in June 2014. He is the author of Preemptive Love: Pursuing Peace One Heart at a Time, a firsthand account of his team’s quest to mend hearts and save lives in Iraq, the world’s most notorious war-torn country.
Jeremy is the father of two children, Emma (b. 2005) and Micah (b. 2007), and husband to his college sweetheart, Jessica.
